We are inviting you to join us for our Living Future Europe and Humanscale co-creative event on 11 July 2024 in London. Hosted in Humanscale’s Clerkenwell studio, you will hear from LFE Declare and The ILFI Red List that has influence far beyond those undertaking the Living Building Challenge or Living Product Challenge. In an engaging panel conversations will also hear from leading UK and international built environment practices and clients why material transparency is such a vital element in achieving today's sustainability, regenerative and well-being imperatives..

Martin Brown Living Future Europe, Vice President

Martin, FRSA, is a Regenerative Provocateur based in Lancashire, VP at Living Future Europe, LF Hero and Co-Chair of Longridge Environment Group. Vice Chair of the COST Action RESTORE (2017-21).

Blending a passion for outdoor exploration with a lifelong career in the built environment, Martin is a pioneer and inspiration voice in the built environment regenerative thinking as advisor, educator, commentator, speaker, and author.

He supports, counsels, nurtures, and provokes many organisations on their regenerative journeys and discoveries.


Carlo Battisti Living Future Europe, President

Degree in Civil Engineering from the Politecnico of Milan, about 20 years of experience in construction companies with different roles, 15 as sustainable innovation manager & consultant. Master of Management and Organizational Development at MIP. LEED, Living Future, WELL and RESET AP. USGBC & WELL Faculty. LF Hero. In 2009-2022, he has been working with IDM South Tyrol as an innovation manager in the Ecosystem Construction. In 2017-2021 he was Chair of the COST Action 'REthinking Sustainability TOwards a Regenerative Economy' (RESTORE).


Rhiannon Laurie VHA Architects, Sustainability Director for Europe

Rhiannon Laurie is the newly appointed Sustainability Director at VHA Architects for Europe, where she is dedicated to advancing sustainable design and environmental stewardship. In her role, she continuously develops innovative strategies to promote sustainability across the firm's projects.

Previously, Rhiannon served as the European Climate Action and Sustainability Practice Area Leader at Gensler. With over a decade of experience, she has crafted and implemented strategies for a diverse range of global clients, focusing on decarbonising buildings and enhancing occupant health.

Rhiannon believes that the future of design requires a comprehensive data driven approach, one that not only addresses carbon footprint but also demonstrates measurable progress in all aspects of responsible design.


Asif Din Perkins&Will, Sustainability Director

Asif is Director of Regenerative Design at Perkins&Will. He has raised the profile of carbon proficiency in the practice which includes a costed Zero Carbon Report at the end of concept design for all architectural projects. He has been advocating the use of circularity in design and as part of interiors providing a Life Cycle Analysis for all projects with a roadmap to achieving full circularity by 2030. He has also been involved in expanding the environmental remit within the design process as part of the 'Living Design' initiative utilising a multivalent approach rather than singular metrics.

Asif is an Architect with over 20 years' experience in delivering Zero Carbon design projects. Notably BedZED and Jubilee Wharf in Penryn, Cornwall. He has worked in the UK and abroad in China and the Middle East. He has a PhD in Life Cycle design of buildings from Cass School of Art and Design at LMU.


Graça Rocha HMTX Global, Sustainability & Quality Manager

Twenty years of experience in Product Development and Quality Management, leading innovation and continuous improvement projects with new products successfully launched on the market.

Graduated in Chemistry and Quality Engineering with over 30 years of professional experience.

Strong skills in innovation, project management and continuous improvement of operations.

All this academic and professional path allowed the development of several technical skills related to Chemical Engineering and Quality Management. There was also an opportunity to acquire numerous soft skills that are important for any role, such as leadership, flexibility, proactivity and willingness to overcome challenges.


Griso Barrios International Living Future Institute, Senior Manager, Just

As the Senior Manager for the Just program, Griso focuses on introducing organizations to the Just program and welcoming them to the Just community as they navigate through the label submission processes. Griso is a passionate advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion, enjoying facilitating discussion groups, program improvement/development, and supporting individuals on their DEI journeys.

Before joining ILFI, Griso worked in the education sector, particularly focusing on enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in family and community engagement practices. Originally from Venezuela, Griso grew up and attended school in Toledo, Ohio, where she graduated from the University of Toledo. She later earned a Master’s in Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis. Currently residing in Colorado Springs, Griso spends her free time discovering new hikes and seeking out the best coffee spots in town!
